Smart Beginnings Twin County is working to prepare children for success in school and in life The coalition was founded in July 2010, when the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation awarded the initiative a $50,000 Planning Grant to begin their work in Grayson and Carroll counties and the city of Galax. The grant is to be used for a comprehensive community assessment of early learning needs in the area, in addition to the development of a leadership council for the new initiative and the creation of a long-term strategic plan.
